Question:

03 Honda Civic car alarm system?

I'm trying to get a keyless entry car alarm system, but I don't know where to start. What are reliable companies? Anyone have experience? Links would be helpful too. Thanks!

Answer:

I would stick to a known brand like Clifford or Viper (there are more out there). Each brand carries different levels of security and features, of course the more features it has the more expensive it will be. Some brands carry a lifetime warranty on their unit (brain) and will be more expensive than ones that carry a one year warranty. If you are planning to keep your car for a while, go for the lifetime warranty. We (wife and I) just had a new alarm system and remote start (Viper) installed in our SUV for about $400.00 at Best Buy. The unit and installation is guaranteed for life and didn't have to buy and extended warranty plan for it. I have a clifford alarm in my '99 Accord that's been pretty good to me through the years. The only issue I encountered is with a switch (trigger) for my hood, the alarm itself has not posed a problem ever since I got it years ago.
What the heck is an engine grounding kit? A cold air intake is a waste of money and I would be VERY careful about this one -- 2700 miles? My a** hurts.
