Question:

09 non nav subaru forester stereo wiring harness?

I have a 09 subaru forester nonnav standard audio package, looking to replace the stereo with an after market one. I bought the harness and I was curious if im better off sudering the wires or just splicing them together and using electrical tape? Or crimping them. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Maybe do the best thing for later if you want to sell the car, so its easy to install the standard deck back? Just a tip :)
i think soldering's a pain in the butt, and always end up melting or burning something i'm not supposed to. so if it were me, i'd just use a wire cutter and clamps, or those caps that screw onto two wires twisted together. just make sure you have enough wire exposed for a good, solid connection. god luck, and happy holidays!
hope you don't have a factory amplifier running your speakers it may not work the speakers until you find out what wire on the amplifier is the one you have to power from your new head units remote turn on wire, blue with white line on aftermarket equipment on a factory stereo who knows.if you have no amplifier and the speakers are running right off the cars stereo you should be all set.im just mentioning this because most newer cars sometimes have other functions running threw the harness running your stock radio and if you disconnect the battery or your battery gos dead your factory radio will ask for a code before it will work again,or if you unplug the radio itself and may shut down other functions.your car may not do all these things i talked about,if so that's great but its better to go to a pro installer and pick his brain to make sure its alright to just start pulling your stock sound system apart, information is free and its better to be safe than sorry.hope this safes you some headaches.
