Question:

10 pts : Alternative to plastic?

We all know that the use of plastic (bottles mostly) has negative effects both on us and on the environment.Question:What are some good alternatives to plastic bottles and why?

Answer:

Better way to describe it is that glass is made from sand. Thats right, sand. and what do we have a lot of in this world?....sand. Problem completely solved. use mother nature for a variety of good uses.
A drinking fountain, metal canteen, a faucet.
glass is definatly the best solution. More people recycle glass instead of plastic. Many people consider plastic to be trash so they don't recycle it. Glass is more widely understood to be recyclable material.
Glass is the best alternative to plastic. It's recyclable and it doesn't harm the environment.
Glass bottles are by far more environmentally friendly. Plastic, although cheap to produce, leaves trace harmful elements in the liquid it contains. Compare the two - fill a glass bottle and a plastic bottle with water and leave them for three days. Then taste the water. You'll know the difference instantly. People tend to recycle glass more too. I just find it a shame when people throw glass bottles, smashing them for tyres to get punctured or kids to get hurt. Maybe we should introduce a compulsory returnable charge on all glass bottles. Plastic ones too, come to think of it, at least whilst we are still using them. Even in houses though, we use plastic water storage header tanks. In this case, I don't think glass would be very feasible, but we can use copper tanks as an alternative. But what can we do about getting the companies who use plastic bottles to sell their goods? There is little point saying, oh, we could use this, we could use that. That doesn't change a thing. Each of these companies provide contact information on their labeling. telephone numbers are free. So are the email addresses they give. we can contact them asking them to change. We can also lobby governments, to get them to enforce a change. Ultimately though, using plastic bottles is our choice. We can boycott companies using plastic. Every single time that we buy a plastic bottle of drink, we are saying, that we agree with the company for using them. We tell them that we don't care. There are alternatives to buying plastic, and it is in our power to get them to change...
