Question:

1974 Honda CB350 Motorcycle Mileage?

Do you think 12,000 miles is a lot on this honda, i mean in terms of buying one with this amount of miles on it, all the gaskets and necessities have been changed and runs great, but do you think the mileage might be too much???

Answer:

That's a great beginner bike and a good all around bike. Solid dependable, reasonably fast and a really cool old design. No it can't chase down a ninja 250, it wasn't designed to but it will run with it and carry 2 up all over town. Get some foam hand grips, they buzz.
Fat Joe god I cant stand that pos
12,000 miles on a bike from 1974? Not much mileage at all. If the bike has been maintained, as you say it has, I would buy it in a heartbeat if I needed a good entry level machine. The hardest thing about this bike is that it has an old points and condenser ignition system. The points are not hard to get hold of, but he condensers are. Honda may still be supplying them to their dealerships or parts departments, but they are a bit of a pain to get set proper and require vigilant maintenance
A motorcycle is no different that any other piece of equipment that has an engine depending on what it is. 12,000 miles on a garden tractor for example would probably make it unfit for a junk yard. 12,000 on a car and it is just getting broke in. As far as engine wise 12,000 on a cycle is nothing more than 24,000 om a car. You can figure about double in comparison to a car. What will kill you on a cycle is the rest of it. The sprockets and chains for example. Check the tires too 12,000 could be ready for tires and just because they are 1/5 the size they are NOT 1/5 the price! Condition of the bike is a lot more important than the miles. If the bike is clean and looks taken care of I would buy it in a second and wouldn't think twice. However I have seen bikes for sale with 5,000 miles and I wouldn't have them given to me.
