Question:

1983 gmc 1500 windshield wiper switch?

i have an 83 gmc 1500, it is a 4 speed 4x4, i was wandering were the windshield wiper switch would be. because there is no spot on the column for a switch, the only spot would be the turn signal which is there, someone switched this truck over to a 4 speed and they used a different column

Answer:

The wiper switch used to be on the turn signal arm on the original column. The original column was made by the thousands and should be easy to find in a wrecking yard.Just be sure the tilt part of the column is tight as those had a tendency of having the screws come loose way down inside where the tilt part joins together. They can be tightened but it's a pain in the butt to get too.
you ruled out the aptitude source. do this disconnect the wipers from the motor to rule out binding interior the wiper fingers. If wiper fingers have loose play it sounds to me jointly with you've a overheating motor or the circuit board interior the motor for the washers and motor is undesirable.
Are you referring to the park switch? it is located inside the wiper motor. the park switch is what turns off and parks the wipers in the down postion. you should be able to buy one from a local part store and or dealer.some newer designs are motor asm only and dont offer a park switch seperate good luck
