I had to take the drivers side front axle out of my 1989 Dodge Dakota 4x4 b/c it was shot and popping constantly. Will it be ok to run it w/o it a couple of weeks as long as i dont use my four-wheel drive? Thank You!

i have seen people do this before but you may loose a lot of fluid out of it,i know what your talking about by leaving the other part in the hub ,but the main part of it that goes in to the transfer case will leak fluid out of it even if you don't use the 4 wheel drive and you,ll also be allowing dirt to get in to it and that will cause more problems,you really need to replace that whole axle if possible and not drive it until you do,good luck.
