Question:

1989 Dodge Dakota No Front Axle. Ok?

I had to take the drivers side front axle out of my 1989 Dodge Dakota 4x4 b/c it was shot and popping constantly. Will it be ok to run it w/o it a couple of weeks as long as i dont use my four-wheel drive? Thank You!

Answer:

plain ole cotton works fine. don't think acrylic on it is going to go anywhere.
i very own a save and on those you need to make sure the loose play interior the timing chain and gears whilst they get some miles on the it makes them run slightly speedy, and not run comfortable, additionally be on the look out for a loose or undesirable vacuum line on it,which will reason this additionally, yet examine the timing with a easy and notice the place its at,identity say that's going to be transferring returned and forth a lot you likely wont have the means to be sure the mark that reliable on it,i do different the Dakota,s and function replaced different chains in them those are reliable autos, yet will positioned on a timing chain out in approximately 80 thousand miles, examine it ,i believe you,ll come across a reliable part of your subject with it,reliable success with it wish this facilitates.
if its an axle with rubber boots a CV style then no the outer part bolts through the wheel hub and keeps the bearings held in place.
i have seen people do this before but you may loose a lot of fluid out of it,i know what your talking about by leaving the other part in the hub ,but the main part of it that goes in to the transfer case will leak fluid out of it even if you don't use the 4 wheel drive and you,ll also be allowing dirt to get in to it and that will cause more problems, you really need to replace that whole axle if possible and not drive it until you do,good luck.
