Question:

1996 Pontiac Sunfire Windshield Wipers Stuck?

Hey, I just recently bought a 96 Pontiac Sunfire. Everything runs great except for a windshield wiper problem. They work and stuff, its just when i turn them off or turn the car off.they won‘t go down and stay stuck in the middle of the windshield. I have tried doing some googling and looking around the internet and many people have had this problem in this model/make, but can‘t find an answer anywhere. I am not really a car person, so explanation would be amazing.

Answer:

Try changing the hi-low wiper relay , plus it could be the ground going to the relay and the wiper motor has a sensor that tells the motor where to stop so it could need changing but try the relay first. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way check the two wiper relays part numbers if the same switch them around and then see if the wipers stop properly if so change the hi-low relay asap.
You need a new wiper motor, that is the repair for this concern. If you watch, there are a lot of older Sunfire/Cavalier wipers stuck in the up position.
