Question:

1999 Volvo s70 auto transmission problems... blinking arrow light. NEED HELP PLEASE!

I have a 1999 volvo s70. The transmission wasn't running so good so me and my dad drained the transmission fluid and it was brown as heck! I know it supposed to be blood red but my dad said that he never saw transmission fluid so dirty. So we refilled it with dextron transmission fluid. We drove it for about 200 miles and then notice it was acting up a bit still. Then the blinking arrow light turned on and i know this means there is something wrong with the transmission. So we thought maybe its still the transmission fluid. So we drained it again and it was still dirt brown. We refilled it again and drove it around for a bit. It was shifting better and then it started to lose power and it shifts automatically into 3rd gear instead of starting in first gear. Now I know it can either be a bad pnp switch, or a bad solenoid, or the transmission fluid. I researched alittle bit but im just wondering if anyone knows what the problem can be.

The okorder /flashing-arrow-658 okorder /Cars/Discussion-... When draining/changing the trans fluid, it 's best to perform a complete fluid flush which will get out more of the old fluid although some people have had bad experiences with flushing or it's done wrong. Most shops just use the pressure of the onboard trans pump to flush out old fluid which is fine but make sure to change the filter screen if so equipped after flushing...not before. An alternative is to drain and refill the fluid...change filter...drive a few hours , then drain and refill again...repeat as needed until the fluid coming out no longer looks dark but looks reddish again although that may take several gallons to get out all remnants of the old fluid.
