Question:

2000 S10 Driver Windshield wiper flys off?

My drivers side windshield wiper will not stay in place. After a couple of times it won‘t come back all the way down to the starting position and will settle in about the middle of the motion. Eventually it will just kind of fly off the windshield all together any ideas how to fix it?

Answer:

There a small gear that your wiper blade hooks to You need to take the wiper off and check to see if the gears are ok , if they look ok then look at he splines thats made into your wiper to see if they ok are not. you may need to replace the wiper
If the motor was bad, both sides wouldn't work. I would try a few things (in this order). 1. There is a nut that holds the wiper arm onto the car. Sometimes this nut gets loose and causes one of the arms not to move. 2. Remove the wiper arm. Sometimes the arm can get 'stripped', and even if the nut is tight enough the arm won't move. If it is the motor, it would depend on your mechanical ability. You can buy an aftermarket motor for under $100, but it may be a little tricky to install.
