Answer:

With renewable energy, the main thing we look for is consistancy. We know that the sun will shine every day (even thought it's sometimes cloudy) we know that there will be a reasonable amount of wind blowing through large wind farms, and we know the core of the earth will always produce heat. We have worked to harness those types of energy. The problem with lightning is that there aren't lightning storms every day, or week, or even month. The empire state building in new york city has a lightning rod which CONSTANTLY gets struck with lightning during a storm, and we know this, but we don't even try to harness it because the infrequency with which storms appear makes harnessing it useless. also, harnessing it would be incredibly hard because lightning strikes very quickly and with a huge amount of energy, so we would probably not gain much powerstrike. energy sources like solar, wind, tide, thermo(forget the rest) are what we should be focusing on and researching better ways to harness, because they are reliable.
Polyethylene terephthalate (sometimes written poly(ethylene terephthalate)), commonly abbreviated PET, PETE, or the obsolete PETP or PET-P, is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food and other liquid containers; thermoforming applications; and engineering resins often in combination with glass fiber
