Question:

2002 Honda CR-V Windshield Wipers?

Hello, I took my Honda CR-V into get serviced one time, and they changed the wiper blades for us. The next time I used the windshield wipers, they traveled too far and it sounded like they were banging against something. Also, when I pick them up while I am cleaning my windshield, I notice that they travel and little instead of being stiff. Does anyone know what‘s wrong with them and what I can do to fix it. Thank you!

Answer:

Those are the $30 wipers. Take them off and put on a set of $7 wipers. Either one will need to be replaced in 6 months anyway.
The wiper motor turns a crank arm that moves the wiper linkage. It's possible you have wear on the pivot points. But since this seems to have started after the blade replacement, my first guess is that the blades are too long and are hitting the windshield trim. But if the blades are correct, have the linkage and pivots checked.
Some wiper arms do not move forward or stand out straight to allow easy changing of the blades. So, the parts changers probably removed the arms or one arm that they could not easily reach and then did not reinstall the wiper arms back on the wiper transmission shaft properly. They need to come off and be properly reinstalled. Good Luck!
