Question:

2006 Scion TC AEM cold air intake for 2008 TC?

Will a AEM cold air intake for a 2006 TC fit in a 2008 TC?

Answer:

like they other guy said, when you buy an intake they give you compatible models of the car, ie 2004-2006. i believe all intakes will for any tc will fit, but to be safe, get one with your year in that range.
no. there is a difference between the two. in 2007 the engine was revised with: new pistons, and rods. a new MAF sensor and revised intake track, with a new tune and oil squirters on the pistons and some stuff on the exhaust side. which is why you see the 05-06 160hp 5700rpm 163ft lbs tq 4000 rpm and a 9:6 compression ratio. 07 up 161hp 6000rpm 162ft lbs tq 4000 rpm and a 9:8 compression ratio. and then you'll also see options when buying an intake, there will be a 05-06 intake option and a 07+ option. so if you have a 2008 you need to get the 07+ option same with turbo kits too, theres the 05-06 option and 07+ option.
1. It is one of the cheapest I've seen. However, I'd go with a bigger exhaust long before I worried about the intake. If you match up a cold air intake with some nice headers, a racing catalytic converter, a racing muffler, and a larger exhaust system, you'll have the best horsepower you can get. But if you're looking for the best cheap increase, find a decent muffler, and have a shop do what they can to increase the size of your exhaust system. My tC has a 2.5-3 catback exhaust with a racing muffler. It's almost like a night and day difference in the feel of the power when you compare it to a stock 5spd tC. Spend $150 on your exhaust, and table the intake for now. You'll get more bang for your buck, and people can always see your shiny new muffler!
