Question:

3 wheel motorcycle or 2 wheel?

I saw the 3 wheel motorcycles, however I have my ninja 250 still (I plan on keeping it) What do you guys/ girls think? 2 wheelers or 3 and explain.

Answer:

A 3 wheeler is not a motorcycle, when I am 80 I may want one.
My feeling is that 3-wheel motorcycles are for people who can't balance a 2-wheeled bike. Motorcycles are fun for a lot of reasons, and I guess all of us bikers have a little different idea of why we ride them. For me, I like long trips but also I like 'canyon carving', negotiating narrow, twisty roads in the mountains. Leaning is a big part of this, like skiing. But if you don't like that, or it isn't important to you, 3-wheeled bike might be safer, less scary. Also there are two configurations for 3-wheeled vehicles. Vehicles that have two wheels in front and one in back handle better, are more stable and safer. Vehicles with two wheels in the back carry more weight. For a 'sporty' vehicle 2 front wheels is better, like the Can-Am Spyder. But you can also get a Harley Davidson or Honda Gold Wing with a conversion kit that puts two wheels in back, if you want a Harley or Gold Wing.
Many three-wheelers which exist in the form of motorcycle-based machines are often called trikes and often have the front single wheel and mechanics similar to that of a motorcycle and the rear axle similar to that of a car. Often such vehicles are owner-constructed using a portion of a rear-engine, rear-drive Volkswagen Beetle in combination with a motorcycle front end. Other trikes include ATVs that are specially constructed for off road use. Three-wheeled automobiles can have either one wheel at the back and two at the front, (for example: Morgan Motor Company) or one wheel at the front and two at the back (such as the Reliant Robin). Due to better safety when braking, an increasingly popular form is the front-steering tadpole or reverse trike sometimes with front drive but usually with rear drive. A variant on the 'one at the front' layout was the Scott Sociable, which resembled a four-wheeler with a front wheel missing. Three-wheeler cars, including some cyclecars, bubble cars and microcars, are built for economic reasons: in the UK for tax advantages, or in the US to take advantage of lower safety regulations, being classed as motorcycles. As a result of their light construction and potential better streamlining, three-wheeled cars are usually less expensive to operate.[citation needed] Three-wheeler transport vehicles known as auto rickshaws are a common means of public transportation in many countries in the world, and are an essential form of urban transport in many developing countries such as India and the Philippines. Auto rickshaws are a form of novelty transport in many Eastern countries.
