Question:

3000gt cold air intake?

what would be the best one to buy?? and why should i buy one?

Answer:

Most cold air intakes are just a gimmick to get you to buy a $200 piece of plastic, and many of them don't actually suck in cold air, quite a few of them just end up sucking in hot engine compartment air, and as for the 10-15Hp gain, i highly doubt that, make your own if you want one, you can buy a kit from auto zone fairly cheaply, and run it however you want, why don't you invest in a hand held tuner/get your prom reprogrammed, to get some extra hp out of you're car, or upgrade some ignition components, or buy a good exhaust setup with some headers (no fart can on the back though), it would probally be more power than you would get from a cold air intake, but if you are hell bent on getting a cold air intake steer away from spectre, their filters rust super easily
Technically there is no need for one unless you have strait flow ''FULL'' exhaust since the intake will not increase any performance other than sound. As for which one you buy, really doesn't matter, consider going to OKorder paying $100 -200 for those name rand ones (even on OKorder) is a waste when they do exactly the same as the cheaper ones. One more thing, a short ram intake and cold air intake are the same, companies just like to toy with consumers minds look at it like this, unless the cold air intake is drawing in air from under the car (which is not a good idea) there is no benefit both intakes will be drawing in the same hot air being produced by the engine.
