Question:

92 cherokee rear axle?

i have a 1992 jeep cherokee with a Dana 35c rear axle. I‘m getting ready to put 31 tires on and I was wondering, how easy it would be to break my rear axle. I‘m not a hardcore wheeler. I just do some trails on the weekends. should i upgrade to a dana 44? and If i keep it stock how hard is it to break my rear axle?

Answer:

there is a conversion for these cherokee's to a very stout rearend assembly. the 96 and newer explorer 8.8 rearend with disc brakes is the ticket. there is some minor conversion and kits are available on-line. the ratio is the same and gives you greater flexibility when you are off-roading. check it out. i think you will like it
THE AXLE WOULD BE FINE I HAVE A CHRYSLER 8.25 CORPERATE IN MINE AND IT WOULD HANDLE THE STRESS JUS CHANGE YOUE DIFF FLUID AT EVERY 12K BECAUSE ANY TRAIL TIME COUNTS ON SERVICE LEVEL B. I CHANGE MINE EVERY 6K AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROB BUT IF YOU DO YOURSELF FIND OUT IF YOU GOT A LIMITED SLIP IF YOU DO YOU NEED 75-140W SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL BUT IF NOT USING SYNTHETIC YOU NEED A ADDITIVE FOR THE DIFF.
I had a ninety one ford explorer proper rattling automobile I ever had. not something ever broke on it and that i had it for 3 years. had to get a clean automobile cuz spouse needed some extra useful for are new infant. So bought a clean ford explorer and that one is mind-blowing.
