Question:

94 chevy cheyenne shaking badly while braking?

Just bought this truck and it shakes violently when you step on the brakes. Its like the breaks are grabbing and then not, then grabbing then not again. The slower the speed the slower the cycles. It feels extremely dangerous and i wont be driving it again until i get fix this problem.

Answer:

warped rotors, you may not need a whole new brake system. Rotors and Pads and bleed the system. Lube the slide pins on the caliper and make sure the caliper is not leaking. Shop cost may be anywhere between 35 and 50 for each rotor and pads can be 20 to 60 for a set. Don't get the cheep pads, buy the middle of the road, cheep ones will squeal and be CHEEP. 35 for a decent set. A shop will charge you anywhere between 200 and 350 to do this. Don't let them put the cheep stuff on your car, you'll be back in less then 2 years at best!!!
YOu need new rotors. When the rotors get old, they start to rust and well up. Then when the brakes grab hold of them, the swollen parts cause a lot of shaking. It's not good for the rest of your braking system, or your suspension. Since it's a 94 that you just bought, I'd get the whole brake system replaced, and while they are it have the front end lubed and inspected.
get some brake rotors because yours is warped.
