Question:

95 mustang gt cold air intake?

some people say it barely helps giving you 2 hp. Some also say that it gave them 15 hp and its amazing. Please give your experiences.

Answer:

It is not worth it to buy a after market cold air intake. The filters do not flow any better than a good clean paper filter. You can buy many paper filters for the price of one reusable and with the res-usable ones you have to buy the recharge kits to clean them which cost just as mich as buying a new paper filer. And most after market cold air intakes get the air for the engine from the engine compartment not out side the engine compartment like any factory air intake on any car made in the last 20 years. Meaning that the so called cold air intake is really pulling in hot air from behind the radiator to feed the engine. they will make the car louder but that is just because they do not have the case around them making them louder. I guarantee that you will see Absolutely no noticeable difference in either power or fuel mileage by replacing the air intake. THE ARE A SCAM I have had After market air intakes on 2 different vehicles that i have owned and both were taken off and replaced with factory parts. And of course if you upgrade the exhaust you will notice a change but that is in the exhaust not the air intake.
T/A hit that one on the nose CAI's are a SCAM!!! They DO NOT suck in cold air AT ALL! -Air is sucked into the engine WAY too fast in order for it to cool down the air. Also, Metal is a conductor of HEAT.so if you have one of those fancy chrome ColdAirIntakes, it will actually GET HOT.NOT COLDgo ahead and drive around, pop the hood and feel it -It's also been PROVEN by automotive manufactures that Rubber/Plastic are BETTER for airflow and have less drag than metal or chrome tubing. (which is why automanufacturers use it, not JUST because it's cheaper.) -KN makes their money by saying how their filtration is so much more thicker and heavy dutyyet increases airflow? This is likely NOT even possible.since they use practically the same product material as normal air filters And WHY would you need THICKER air filters anyways? When was the last time ANYBODY had engine troubles because an air filter wasnt filtering good enough?likely NEVER!haha It's just a cheap marketing tool at which the company attempts to get sales by making up a non-existant problemthen offering a solutionso you will buy something you DONT need! This happens all the time with millions of products every year.just wastes of money and materials. CAI's WONT give you 10hp The MOST they will give you is around 5hpwhich is too small for most dynos to accurately measure, since most dynos are Innacurate to around 5horsepower or so. The REASON people make claims of Horsepower gains from CAI's is 2 simple reasons 1.) More responsive Throttledue to NO air filter housingsince the suction pressure is gone, it gives the illusion of more power. 2.) Thrushing Sound from the intake.this again does NOTHINGit just MAKES NOISE!(just the air splitting or getting sucked into the intake.just cosmetic.)
about the in reality element an oem air intake does is make noise. The production facility intake on intense-performance vehicles is already designed to tug less warm air from a low pressure area.an oem unit, doesn't have the baffles, so it makes that sucking noise you may want to be more desirable ideal off saving your funds for something that works, like a series of headers, and occasional-restiction mufflers
