A question about winter tires?

I live in Toronto Canada and with winter now here it's clear we need winter/snow tires for our car (2007 Audi A3). Turns out there's a shortage of winter tires in Canada. So my question is, are there any all season tires that come close to the performance of a winter tire? I know that they are not nearly as good in the snow. But since I can't find winter tires for my car, I'm wondering if there's anything that comes close (a good second best).

Answer:

this is a warning light to tell you the air bag system is inoperative! VERY IMPORTANT !! please have this checked asap. this will not effect normal driving conditions, BUT in the event of a severe collision , the air bags will not deploy. air bags save lives. please get it checked out. i hope this helps you, best of luck always.
they are good true their not the best but they do, another option if you dont mind the style of them is to find some knobby truck tires that will fit there not stylish but their your best friend when it comes to driving in the snow
Granted we don't have as much snow where I live , but I have found regular steel belted radials rated as all season work as well as snow tires as long as they have good tread depth.
I told my friend, who has just become a father two months ago, to get his winter tires in September. He didn't listen to me and now he's facing the problem just like yours. Shortage of snow tires in Ontario b/c of Quebec's winter tires law. I suggest that you get soft rubber compound all season tires with aggressive tread patterns. Toyo, Michelin, and Yokohama are very good all season tires.
