Question:

AC is always freezing motor?

Even when I put the AC 78 the house will get really hot..when we check the AC..the motor is frozen. We then have to turn it off for it melt and the ac will work again until it freezes. Any suggestions as to what can be wrong, what parts need to be replaced? No we don't need a new ac...

Answer:

Check that supposed air filter in the front. Clean if necessary. Next go outside if possible, and see if there is alot of water collected at the bottom of the A/C Unit. If so, most likely the drain is clogged up on it. Need to get that mold and stuff out. Hope this helps a bit.
Needs freon, also get ya water hose out and clean the coils on the outside unit... Change your filter once a month.
your freon is low, sounds funny, you would think it would be the other way around.get someone to put freon in it.
Your drain tube is probably plugged, which lets water build up in evaporator box, - which could then freeze into a block, - which makes it kind of hard for the fan to on blower to turn . Check under car in area of A/C box under the hood, - you should see water dripping on the ground, - the higher the humidity, the faster the drops will come down, as the cold condenses the moisture out of the air! By the way one line coming out of the compressor will always be hot, (I mean hot enough to burn you even) if the A/C is cooling properly. The other one (bigger hose) will always be somewhere between frost, and moderately cool! If this is a car with a temperature control which can be turned down, run it at a low setting, so that the compressor cuts off frequently and thaws out the frost in evaporator core. A lot of pre- 78 cars had these cotrols on them, and also after-market installations.
