Question:

Activating windshield cleaner fluid causing windshield wiper fuse to blow.?

I‘ve blown the windshield wiper fuse on my 1997 Toyota Tercel twice now, each time when trying to use the windshield cleaner fluid sprayer. What could be causing this to happen, and what is a ballpark estimate on replacement/repair? Thanks.

Answer:

Disconnect the little motor that pumps the fluid. Try activating the switch and see what happens. If it DOESN'T blow the fuse then the little pump motor is shorted out.
Rude?? NO! It is harmful to power with an obscured windshield. You get a ticket for that ya be aware of. Power ahead real rapid then slam on the brakes. That will have to dislodge the large chunks, THEN use your wiper fluid to cast off the oily residue of skin. You do have bug remover kind fluid in there right Ooops Orange.
Try checking your wiring to the windshield washer pump, it's shorting out. It has a bare wire or pump may have short in it.
