Question:

AEM cold air intake or v2?

Does anyone know where i can find a cheap AEM cold air intake system or a v2 intake system for my Mitsubishi eclipse gt? I was looking at the short ram intakes and they are allot cheaper but i don't think they can give you as much of a power boost, am i right or just an idiot? Because internet explanations have been shaky at best.

Answer:

go with whatever the cheapest intake you can find is. in the end, the only difference aem makes is that thier intakes are carb legal, but this should only matter if you live in california. nowadays every intake has been designed after all the brand named product so it does not really matter. as far as to buying a cold air intake, rather than a short ram, you do get colder air thus getting more oxygen atoms into your combustion chamber. with a short ram intake you get the hot air from the engine until you begin to move and cold air enters the engine bay. With the cold air intake you have the chances of hydrolock if you live i a place where it rains, but a bypass valve would solve that problem.
I haven't used the AEM V2 but I've heard very good things about them. If you add it alone, you might get a couple extra horses. If you combine that with a performance exhaust, you will benefit more. If your car has a turbo, a cold air intake generally won't make that much of a difference - but it will still benefit from the less restrictive filter. If you are looking for other options, Injen makes a good product as well.
the short ram intakes do not work all they do is suck in hot air and cicrculate it through your engine no hp difference the v2 intake is waste of money dont get it the cold air intake is the only one that works, since its sucking in cold air from the bottom it acutally does work
anything is possible ,but it not to the dealers advantage to lie to you , they get paid by dodge to fix it ,they like doing warranty work. That code can be caused by a loose gas cap
