Question:

Alarm System with no contract?

Can anyone please recommend a reliable alarm system that requires no contract or has a 1 yr contract for renters? Our landlord gave us permission to install an alarm system in the condo that we're renting for 2 years, but Brinx requires the owner to set it up and has a 3 year contract. It looks like ADT has a 3 year contract as well and doesn't have that great of customer service. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Answer:

The Rute and Rute 606 by Vic Firth are basically the standard models. They have more of a drumstick style feel. The sound is a cross between a stick (when played hard) and a brush (when played soft.) I would suggest starting with one of these models. Once you play with that pair for a bit, you may want to add a lighter or heavier model to your collection. Lighter Rute 303, Heavier Rute 202. As for what styles to play with them - they can be used for almost any style. They have gained popularity by being used on unplugged or acoustic gigs.
you can take a bunch of pans and beat on them with wooden spoons (it makes a lot of noise)
