Question:

Alero -My windshield wiper and arm will move if I manually move it but not when I turn the wipers on. Why?

It started to seem to slip and take a couple of couple of ‘wipes‘ before it would move before. But now it won‘t at all unless I move it with my hand. When I do this it the arm will will move further than it should. Could a screw be loose or the linkage have slipped? Thanks in advance!

Answer:

It could be the motor giving out or the arm could be breaking. That's why you can move it further than should be possible. Check everything just to make sure.
well most likely yeah the arm is busted or you might need to repalce the whole thing which would be alot cheaper if u find the part in a junk yard.
Probably exactly that. You may be able to fix it yourself for free. Open the hood with the wipers running, engine off. Listen for a motor running. Look for motion. It's just under the windshield. If you find something moving, look for an end. If you find a moving end, look for where it belongs. Then look for whatever was supposed to hold it in place. Could work. If motor is not running You need a new motor. If you hear it run and there is no motion, you still need a new motor because the drive unit is sold with it. Hope I helped.
