Question:

AMD Bulldozer FX6100 or core i3 3rd generation?

AMD Bulldozer FX6100 or core i3 3rd generation? which will be good for gaming, thanks in advance

Answer:

Core i3 is a dual core processor, while FX 6100 is a 6-core processor. I admit that Intel processors are more capable but in this case, 4 more execution cores WILL make difference, and that difference will be visible. So I would opt for FX 6100. However, whatever processor you choose, pair it with a good Graphics Card. Its a Graphics Card which handles most gaming loads these days. Get atleast a Radeon HD 7850 or HD 7870 and you are good to go.
i3 3rd generation. Don't even question the power of Intel.
fx 6300 would be better then i3 but thats the max you could go in terms of upgradability fx 6100 is basicly older brother of fx 6300 but fx 6100 was a horrible for gaming fx 6300 was the improved version which games fine without issue

Neither of these are what you would consider true gaming CPU. Gaming systems do not need the latest bleeding edge technology to give hours of fun and satisfaction. There will be people who are going to claim that you need the highest resolution screen (1920 x 1080) and the fastest CPU and GPU with obscene amounts of ram. They think that by picking all the latest bleeding edge parts and slapping them together makes it all work. Choose what works for you in your budget. A 1366 x 768 screen with a middle of the road CPU, GPU will work just fine. You're not going to be playing the bleeding edge games with bleeding edge technology in the highest settings, but you will be having fun. As far as which CPU is the best depends on your applications. Intel has the fastest one on the market, great for gaming. AMD has the best APU (combined CPU and GPU) on the market, great for mobility in laptops. Intel and AMD are about equal in the middle ground of CPU. AMD has far better graphic chips then Intel. So that would come down to what your building or buying. Its is going to depend on what you combine them with. Today's system are more about balance then the brute force of the CPU. The FX6100 combined with a 7850 or higher is going to be better (not by much) then the i3 combine with with the same graphics.
