Question:

Any tips on using a ceramic/flat top stove?

Just got a ceramic stovelove the way that it LOOKS, but finding clean-up to be a *****! Already have a couple of spots on it that refuse to come offalready have the white gunk and the scratchless sponge.

Answer:

I have a ceramic/glass top stove. I also have the white cleaner that works very well. However, I was also given a scraper with a razor blade in it to scrape off any kind of residue. I don't use a scratchless sponge, I don't think they are any good anyway. You can get these scrapers at your appliance store or at Walmart.
Best advice I can give you is cook carefully. Grease comes off easily but burnt on stuff is nasty. Wipe any spills off fast. Occasionally I use a scaper for removing paint from glass windows. Usually after the kids or husband cooks. I've had my ceramic stove-top for 6 years. It looks a bit worn but we just built a new house and moved it in the brand new kitchen and it doesn't look too bad.
Mag wheels do have spokes, just fewer.
I feel your frustration! I just got a ceramic stove 2 months ago. I was sooo happy to get it. I had been wanting one of these stoves for a long time. It looked like it would be so easy to clean. NOT! I agree, it looks great, but clean up was a pain. Until I got the white gunk called Bar Keepers Friend. My neighbor recomended it and it works great. Now I just scrape off the stuck on stuff with a razor and polish with Bar Keepers Friend. No problem. Good luck!
