Question:

Anybody Have Good Ideas for Cheap Meals for Two?

My boyfriend and I moving into our new place next week and we're not gonna have much money afterwords; I estimated about $50-60 left after all expenses for food each month, not counting my tips from waitingRight now, we have ramen noodles, low-sodium spam, mac n' cheese boxes(the crappy off-brand spiral kind, lol), some spices(onion powder, garlic powder/salt, cinnamon, etc.), and we're going to to get bread and some milk, too, but what else can we get to make an /actual/ meal? Eating nothing but ramen and mac n' cheese will be very unhealthy.

Answer:

I just made a tasty meal last nightI used cubed up butternut squash (I bought it that way from Costco, but you can buy squash and just peel/cut), 2 white pototaoes I put thru the grater (not quite hashbrowns but more like wedge fries), and 2 steaks (you could probably use a roast or other cheaper piece of meat)I cut the meat into little pieces and fried it upMeanwhile, I put the potato and squash in the microwave for 10 minutes after coating them in spices in a big bowlI also added about 1/2 stick butter in pats so it would mix evenlyWhen the microwave was done, I mixed it all together in the fry panThen I put the entire mixture on a cookie sheet (with aluminum foil on the bottom), heated the oven to 400, sprinkled parmasan cheese over the entire thing (you could use the processed cheese from the mac-n-cheese for this) and baked it for 10 minutes to melt the cheese and make sure the potato/squash were completely cookedTurned out YUMMO! Good luck! :) Also check Pinterest they have LOADS of yummy recipes!
