Question:

anyone have a problem with the injen cold air intake system? as far as catalytic converters.?

apperently i burnt up my catalytic converter. the dealership checked it for me. said the air to fuel ratio was way off. and it was causing to much heat in the cat so its breaking down the honey combs. anyone have that problem or know if its somthing else.i dont really feel like throwing 1000$ just so i can fix it.

Answer:

The cold air intake system has a sensor that tells the computer the temperature of incoming air , so as to have the mixture richen up the fuel, like a choke did on older cars with carburetors. When it warms up , the computer then relys on the O2, or oxygen sensor to measure exhaust fuel/air ratio, and to adjust it. Go to your local library, borrow a chilton's manual on your car, do a quick read up of these 2 different but connected system functions.Leave the book on the passenger's seat, go to another repair shop, have them check it out,and scan the computer codes, read up on them also. Good Luck.
there r universal cats for car do not need a direct fit
