Question:

Are Epoxy Surfboards good?

I‘ve been surfing for about 7 years now and the place where i surf has relatively small waves, but they form nicely, however I‘m moving to a place that has absolutely no waves. BUT, I know that a few hours drive away from my city, there‘s some nice surfpoints around, so I‘m thinking of making an epoxy surfboard, since it will last me longer, but I‘ve read a few pointers about epoxy surfboards not being so smooth and nice as PU boards, but most of these articles are kind of old, like from 2004/ 2005. So, given my current situation that im not going to be surfing everyday, and the durability of epoxy surfboards, would it be good to make myself one, or stick to a PU board. thanks

Answer:

salt and sugar are very addictive
Epoxy boards tend to be lighter and greater solid than fibreglass. Fibreglass has greater beneficial flexibility and for surfers with sufficient ability to be conscious the version, Fiberglass is an more suitable holiday. it form of feels that maximum primary, custom board shapers are nevertheless making use of fibreglass. for somebody who's purely an known surfer, the version is negligible. besides the incontrovertible fact that, many piece of s--t, mass produced popouts are epoxy boards, so use warning while procuring.
hey sorry you have to move somewhere where there arent good waves. but yeah epoxy is good only a really experienced surfer, like really experienced surfer would be able to tell the difference, but epoxy is more expensive. also they are super hard to repair. mabey im dumb but my epoxy board started to show damage after four months and it took me forever to master the patching. it was really hard to work with the epoxy mostly because when you damage a epoxy board it shatters you know. but honestly if it was me would stick with a poly board and i would get something like a six two or six-o really thick and wide so it catches real nice. bc it sounds like where your going may not be that great surf wise. well yeah if you have any more questions ask away.
