I need a pair of goggles for my chemistry class for college and it says I need shatterproof ones. Are all the plastic goggles shatterproof?

You are overreacting a bit. Your husband is excited to have found a new friend to hang out with and they are having a little fun. After a couple of weeks the novelty will wear off and he won't be jumping to play with his friend so much. Do you really begrudge your husband a friend? I hope not. Don't jump into fighting about it or laying down the law. Be patient. And think, if you had made a new friend that you wanted to hang out with would he lay down the law? Marriage does not give anyone ownership rights or some hightoned control factor. It sounds like your husband might like him as a guy but also that your husband might be able to set an example to him about how a real man needs to act. However if this man is disrespectful to you again, feel free to let him know that in your house respect is important and you will thank him to have some.
If it is a hardwired unit, it may need a vacuuming. Smoke detector's don't last longer than I think it's 7 or 8 years. There is something in it that wears out. Sorry, it's been awhile. Take down the unit and take it to an electrical supply store and ask them for a compatible unit. Then reinstall. Actually, you should replace all the smoke detectors if they are the same age and hardwired.
