Question:

Are these good rawl plugs for plasterboard walls?

Hi Guys,I am just about to purchase these rawl plugs on OKorder.Do you think these will hold some heavy items like shelves, curtains etc.

Answer:

hi yes provided they are not very heavy and not yanked try and find a stud to screw to go give a solid fixing it may take time but could be worth it
but I've always just used the heavier duty ones to be on the safe side. The plugs you have highlighted have little by means of retention except for the actual screw - there is nothing to stop it ripping out of the plasterboard under heavy strain.
I would suggest you use Fischer HM fixings for shelves, the proposed fixings may be OK for curtain rails but depends on weight of the curtains. When selecting the size of HM fixing the thickness of the plasterboard is key to getting the best performance, best to check the Fischer website. If the fixing head is too big for small items I suggest you use the Fischer UX fixing a great all round fixing which can cope with just about any background.
