Question:

Are windshield wipers will not shut off. They will speed up or slow down, but not shut off.?

Our vehicle is a 2005 Envoy. The wipers will not turn off. They will speed up or down and if we turn off car they will stop but anytime car is on they just keep going. Just wondering what this may be and how expensive. Were also not able to locate the correct fuse to remove on this.Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:

There are three switches you shoud check: - the first the wiper control/speed switch on the stalk; - the second is the end position switch in the wiper motor-gearbox unit. Its role is to keep the wipers going until reaching the rest position. If this is stuck in ON, the wipers will never stop working. This may take some more work to access. Be sure to have a tester and know how to use it. - the third is the wiper motor relay which can also get stuck in ON. Fuses are usually under a panel somewhere in the cab, yet some may also be under the hood or on a separate relay panel.
The car manual should have a diagram that tells you which fuse controls the wipers. You need to repair as running the wipers dry can scratch your windshield. It's most likely the switch or the windshield wipers control. There should be a key to the fuses under the fuse box cover.
