Yes. I've seen people goto large building remodels and dig the old wire out of the dumpster and strip all the insulation off by hand. Then then take it down to the metal recycling yard for cash-ola! You have to be sure it is pure copper, not some copper coated alloy crap.

Engine size depends on model year. The high end model is the V-6 Quattro. The quattro is a better all season car but the tradeoff is lower MPG. I wouldn't look at anything older than a 2004 and would go with the V-6 as the engine has a better reliability record than the 4. Expect to pay from $22K up to the mid-$30K range depending on age, mileage and equipment.
