Question:

make-up on rug?

Baby had a ball with foundation in bathroom. Cleaned everything but the rug. It's vanilla-colored, and is 100% cotton. Any hope?

Answer:

Baking soda and finger polish remover always work.
don't throw it in the washer just hand wash it with some SA8 solutions all fabric bleach it works great.
Try putting some laundry detergent on it and scrubbing it. Then soak it up with a towel, then wet it down a little bit, then soak it up again....viola!
3/4 cup of Clorox in wash or since it is a colored rug use the Clorox for colored clothes.
I am assuming this is just a bathroom throwrug, so there shouldn't be any reason why you couldn't just throw it in the washer. I would also think if you use the makeup remover cloths (like you use on your face) before washing, that should loosen up and dissolve it so it will rinse out in the wash. It is gently enough to use on your face- so it should be gentle enough for your rug. A laundry pretreatment like Oxi-clean, and regular detergeant with a non-chlorine bleach should get the rest out. The big worry with 100% cotton is if it will shrink in the dryer- but I've not had a bathroom rug do that if I used low heat until it was just damp dry, and then hung it to air dry completely. Look at the back and see if there is a care tag to say if it can be dried or not. If all else fails, and you are left with a few spots stained, maybe you could consider doing a dye job, a shade darker- to cover. Good luck with the cleaning. I have six kids, and long ago gave up on white and beige anything for just this reason!
