Question:

Bakers, how long do tin or aluminum baking pans last?

I just got a few, I have found the coated pans don't last at all, but the last spring for baking pan my mom had years ago, did not last foreverI am not sure if its because we liked scrubbing it with brillo or that it was that they didn't make them as good years agoI am hoping my new ones last longerThe nonstick ones that are more common in places like Bed Bath, tend to scratch right away and the coating never works after a few rounds baking.

Answer:

They can last many many yearsMany springform pans have a coating of shiny metal on top of another darker metal, and a brillo pad will certainly take that shiny metal offI have some non-stick baking pans that I've had for five years and they're fineThere is no reason any baking pan shouldn't last if you look after it properlyI don't know why you'd need to scrub a baking pan with a brillo pad, even if you burn everything you bakeSoaking and a brush, hot water, and dish detergent should remove just about everythingUse only plastic utensils with non-stick stuffI keep a few plastic knives from take-out food to use if I need to get something out of a non-stick panUse parchment paper in your pans.
Aluminum Cholride and Hydrogen gasThe aluminum chloride is white in color, not black:) The black color? is made by microscopic aluminium particlesAn interesting fact is that if you have particles of decreasing size they?ll all eventually become black, no matter what they?re made of.
