Question:

Bearded dragon egg help!?

My female has had 2 clutches of eggs 19 first clutch and 24 second! I have been incubating them under lights in vermiculite and been spraying the vermiculite. I have them about half an inch under the vermiculite. But have been losing eggs and don't know why I have kept the temp at 82-84. Some of the eggs have gone black some have collapsed and some have gone a pink colour and collapsed and the bottoms of these ones have gone hard! What is the best remedy for this?? Is it worth changing the incubator to a water heater method?? Also should I have only half buried the eggs?? I have read a lot of mixed info on the Internet but would really like some info from someone with experience!! Thank you for Reading this I hope somebody can help me as it would be a real shame to lose them all!! And as my female is gravid again I really need to solve this problem!!

Answer:

The problem with using moss is it gets too wet and dries too quickly, it's very difficult to maintain humidity with it which can cause the eggs to mold or dry out. Try your local garden store or nursery to find vermiculite.
