Sometimes it does and I wouldn't take a chance. I would wear a respirator, eye protection and gloves. I agree with the answerer above and have it professionally inspected to determine whether it contains asbestos and have a professional remove it properly if it is.

The best flat iron that u could ever buy is a ceramic iron. It promotes good healthy hair and the hair stays straight longer and it gets the hair straighter than most flat irons. Plus it gives the hair a great shine to it.
I love my Solia iron, but for a cheaper brand I've heard good things about Remington and Hot Tools irons.
