Question:

Billy Guerin...........?

Is it okay to admit I got choked up watching Billy Guerin get choked up about hoisting the Cup. I felt so happy for the man, like I can't even begin to explain. I bet he thought he'd never get to hoist Lord Stanley again, eh? Who was the most memorable for you getting to hold Lord Stanley tonight? Who was the most memorable of all time for you? Congrats all Penguin fans! And congrats to all Red Wing fans too. You played a great series!

Answer:

Don't you think, he never even thought about hoisting the cup again either, especially since he was in Long Island for the most part. Hey, Gonch may have not have touched it 2nd, but still 3rd! From our discussion earlier... I've said it a 1000 times tonight, but it feels better to be on this side... So I'll congratulate the fans as many times as needed! Congrats to all you, really... you came this close to taking it into overtime like we did last year. Fantastic Game, Fantastic Series, and Fantastic Season to both teams!
wow thats hard to say, not many people thought the penguins could bring the cup home after the start of their series. it was good to see all of those guys hoist the cup. but i think it meant so much to those guys who are nearing the end of their career such as satan, guerin, gonchar, boucher. it was great for all of the guys though. and agreed the wings had one heck of a series and it went right down to the final minutes of game 7. it was a great series.
I agree with you on Guerin. I enjoyed watching Marc-Andre hoist it. He is a young kid and very humble guy who doesn't seem to have a malicious bone in his body. He took so much heat last year and again this year, especially after that 5-0 loss. He hung in there. Sykora gave him that uplifting speech and he knew the team still believed in him. No Pen has taken more flak than Fleury over the last year. I'm happy for him.
One of the most memorable for me was Scotty Bowman's final season. He put his skates on and went out on the ice and skated with the cup! Everyone was saying that he would probably retire after that season, so it was really great. I also loved seeing Ray Bourque when he played his final season in Colorado and finally got to hold the cup. I know that I'm forgetting some great ones, but it's great to see a player that you really like who gets to hold it up the first time!
Katrina, did we really think Hal Gill would ACTUALLY Lift a cup? LOL. I took a picture of it HAHA, it's on my FB if you want to check it out later. But man, what a great night for the pens. I'm so happy to see Guerin lift it, seeing Mario lift it made my life a little bit better, I wish I could have seen him lift the cup live as a player. To be honest, I thought we'd see a whole Jig from Disco Dan when he hoisted the cup, even he says, he loves to think that he's still becoming a better player every day, and if anyone saw that piece TSN did about him today, you'd definitely see he loves the game. One person I do not feel sorry for - Marian Hossa. I am so happy to see him lose, not because of the circumstances under which he left, I just have a hard time respecting players who, that early in their career, make it apparant that they are signing with a team to win a cup. Everyone wants to win a cup, but it's always the character team who deserves it in my eyes. My coach says adversity builds character. I feel for the pens when they fell to 11th place, and to see them come back was brilliant. I think Hossa wanted it for the wrong reasons. He just wanted it for himself, every penguin out there played like they didn't just want it for themselves, but their teammates and their city of pittsburgh. That's Character.
