Question:

Bleeding VW brake system?

After replacing the front wheel brake cylinders and have attempted to bleed the front brakes, there is no brake pressure. If I bleed all four brakes will that fix it, or is there something else I need to do.It is a '72 Volkswagen Beetle

Answer:

Yes, you need to bleed the whole system. Start with the right rear, then the left rear, next the right front, then the left front. That will get the air out of the whole system.
Be a good idea to adjust the brakes on all 4 wheels prior to bleeding. After bleeding the back if you still can't get pressure your master cylinder must be bad. Don't rebuild it ,buy a new or rebuilt. I've seen many a V.W. with decent brakes in warm weather but when it got cold the master cylinder wouldn't hold pressure. Jim
