Question:

Bottle Returns in NYC - got info just need.?

.just need a bit more info.New(er) to NYCLived here under a year and still learning thingsAnywho, I got plenty of info on NY Bottle Laws and such (internet is good for that), but I just need a bit more info from people who would know.I am in Brooklyn Heights area (right at the Brooklyn Bridge)The nearest big grocery store I found is a PathmarkI have a bunch of empty soda bottles I can return, but I was just wondering where in the store to take themThere is no area quot;bottle returns herequot; or anything and I didn't see any machines so I was wondering if I take them to customer service or what?Kind of silly, but as a noob to this stuff, I feel a bit awkward taking a few bags of bottles to the store to return themIs there somewhere nearby in Brooklyn or even Manhattan that you can take big amounts of bottles at a time? Where do the people with the cart fulls go?Any help on these questions is appreciated, especially if you're a local with experience! Thanks!

Answer:

They are simply called six pack rings, or six pack yokes.
Usually people just go to the supermarkets to return bottles and cans You won't find the can and bottle machines inside the actual supermarket, however you'll find those machines either outside of the supermarket or in a separate enclosed area next to the store (Pathmark has enclosed separate areas)From there you'll get a receipt that you can bring to the cashier to either get your cash or to use to offset your supermarket shopping expensesI think the cap may be $20 on returns.
