independent rear suspensionit has no axle
was cheap really when most shop charge 80 bucks a hour can call any local shop ask how much to replace same parts get a about price
Hi Dr. F, Howard L. gots it right, an independent mechanic doesnt have the overhead of a shop. And depending where you live 20 dollars an hour sounds fair considering its a friend. You must be pretty good at turning a wrench if you did all this work in 10 hours considering its a 40 plus year old car with probably some old rusty fasteners and you were modifying the drum to calipers and rotors. You probably save your friend from 600-800. dollars over most good shops. cheers.
$20 an hour is a fair price but charge for the parts, the time you spent shopping for the parts, and for cleanup times as well. That's probably about what local mechanics who work at garages get paid. It wouldn't be fair to base your rates on what garages charge. You have no overhead: rent, utilities, insurance, taxes, that the shops must charge for. If it wasn't a friend but simply a neighbor or schoolmate I'd say double it.
