Question:

Broken heater control cable?

I have a 1997 Ford mondeo and the cable that controls the amount of heat into the cabin has broken. I have3 a new cable but i'm not sure how to fit it. Can anyone help me. Thanks

Answer:

Not positive about Ford Mondeo but the cables usually have a plastic or metal sheathing with brackets at each end to attach to the controls and to the heater boxremove the old cable and reinstall the new one at the same mounting points. The cable ends have little round eyes that go on the control head lever and the heater box lever and are held on by little friction fit spring washersyou'll have to pry off the washers gently and reuse them to install the new cable.
get a service manual (haynes, gregory's or the genuine ford one) everything you could ever possibly wish to know is in there and how to do it will cost money but money well spent
