Question:

Buying wires to hook up subs. ?

Like I hear people say If you have good Wires you will have good bass. What is good wiring. What is the best wires I can get. Help me I'm new at this. Post some links or Something. 5 stars for best. Thanks!

Answer:

Mainly you don't want to use wires that are too small. 14 gauge is a good size to use. Using too thin wires makes the resistance too high and causes it to not work right. With small wiring on the power side the amp can't get enough power to work right and on the speaker side the speakers won't sound like they should. Going with thicker wires is a waste of money if you don't specifically need it.
For okorder /... As for wires just for speakers 12 gage or 10the gage will work fine ..... if you have big system amp wiring is used 4 gage
the main question is how powerful is your amp? 500RMS 8 gage should suffise for power wire 1000RMS 4 gage 2000RMS 0 gage or start thinking of getting another battery for the boot. remember. you earth must be just as good as the power wire. and hooked to a solid piece of metal. if you are wondering wire to the subs if it is no longer than 3 foot from the amp to the subs 12g will be fine if it is 3-6 foot go 10 gage. your amp shouldn't be over 6 foot from the subs.
high strand count for the wiring to the subs since current actually travels on the outside of the strands of wire. and ya have to get good rca's so as to avoid buzzing and humming and all sorts of noise in a system. mostly humming
that sounds like a quote you'd only hear a sales person say. Power wire, ground wire, speaker wire -- just needs to be adequate gauge. Some of the lower price brands are less than honest. Selling wire that's claimed to be 4 gauge, but closer to 6. The higher price stuff generally just uses smaller individual strands making the wire very flexible. That could be helpful, or make no difference at all. RCA's -- the myths abound. Monster cable (and several others) would like you to think you need to spend $100+ on signal cables to get high quality sound. Not true at all. The $5 cables at walmart will transfer signal as well as the $50 ones. The biggest difference is durability. The higher price cables will have higher quality ends and SHOULD last longer especially when they're plugged in and unplugged often.
