Cable box scientific Atlanta explorer 4200Can I but this box anywhere including the card needed to use it? I’d really rather not have to rent a few of these from cablevision if I can get one straight out. They charge enough just for the channels and renting all the stuff needed is a killer if you can just buy a box or 2 and not pay monthly rental fees for them. I’m in NYC.
yeah u can, but i wouldnt recommend it. i have to replace em all the time (replaced 4 of em today). with the renting of the box, if anything happens to the box, unless u intentionly do it of course, the cable co replaces with no charge. plus some cable co's dont charge for renting anymore, just for extras to have, and its usually $7. and if u do buy ur own, you'll still have to pay for the digital cable in the 2nd room.
call them ask them too reset your receiver should be fine then!!!!

I think they are only available for rent. The cable company controls the feed so you won't get any signal.
