Hi the chances these days of a clogged exhaust system has to be exceptionally rare. more like it is blowing due to extra holes caused by it rusting away. then this would effect the performance even more so. the exhaust system when not fully working with holes in it cause a most likely cause of poor acceleration. an engine to work effectively needs a certain amount of back pressure when the exhaust is intact it gets this without this back pressure it does not perform as well. so if you where considering this as an excuse to knock holes in it.forget it what that will get you is a fine caused by a noisy exhaust system yes they get you ticket if they start making undue noise. so a new exhaust system might be the only answer. here in the united kingdom anything other than teh manufacturers exhaust system as from 1st jan 2014 will also get you a fine or worst still a crushed car if it is old. the police send your car to be crushed.
