can a thunder damage your house?

if your house get hit by a lighting , and you have a lighting rod etc, coukd the thunder (the sound) be so intense to break glasses , shake the house, or damage the hearing of the occupants? (sorry for bad english)

We don't reject science. Generally speaking the religious are probably more cautious about new things than others might be. Blaming God for natural disasters is far from an exclusively christian practice Judaism does it, Islam does it, the aztecs did it, the greeks did it, etc. I think most religons have in the past and still do. We probably do it less now, since our scientific understanding has advanced so much. I think it's just a typical human characteristic to look for meaning in a tragedy. It helps us feel more in control. After all if we did something to cause it all we need do is not do that thing to prevent it right?
