Question:

can an a car alarm prevent the tranny from shifting?

I have a Cavalier that I will be taking to the mechanic soon. The transmission doesn't work properly. It doesn't even try, make a weird noise or anything unusual. It simply won't go beyond the 2nd gear / . This started happening like 3 weeks after I removed the module of the car's original alarm in order to get rid of it. Characteristics:Cavalier 96 2.4L automatic

Answer:

One thing you could try is to open the detector and blow/gently brush out any dust etc. inside. Might just do the trick. One of ours kept playing up and we discovered there was a tiny spider inside, when we removed it the detector settled down.. Otherwise just buy a new detector, they're cheap enough.
If you're the person who owns the complex, I'd say install some speed bumps. If you're just the person annoyed with it and ya live there, I'd say you're outta luck.
The apple website says to sync it with iTunes, but you could also try updating it. If it's true that the screen shows the alarm going off, but there's no sound there could be a problem. I would recomend calling or emailing apple.
