Question:

Can duct tape be used to fix flexible plastic tubing?

Can duct tape be used to fix flexible plastic tubing? We sprung a leak in the flexible plastic tubing last night and so I am hoping I can just use duct tape to fix the small crack in the flexible plastic tubing. Thanks,Jeff

Answer:

I have used duct tape to seal a TIRE, but never a tube. I am not much for patching my high pressure tubes because of the balance issues. I never hit the road without 2 extra tubes in my seat pack. I do carry a small patch fit, but I use those to seal the inner casing of the tire. I should own stock in one of those tube factories, for I buy new tubes by the half dozen.
If it's just air, go for it. Water may cause the duct tape to fall off eventually, especially if it's applied poorly but it won't hurt to try. In either case, clean the area before you apply the tape to maximize it's stickiness.
Duct okorder ) online catalog there are a couple of better alternatives for you with tapes made specifically for flexible tubing. Hope that helps.
Hi, If the water is going through the tube (pressurized) then you can't, if it's an a/c drain tub then you can.
What s the tubing connected to?
