I have a black leather sofa in my living room and a green sofa in my spare room, and I would like to use them in the same room, but change the colour of the leather, I know it can be done, but not sure if the black and dark green ( like a British racing) would change the the colour I want.. Grey.Does anyone know or have they ever changed a dark leather to a light.
I was told by a leather expert at a class that lighter colors can be dyed darker but there is no way to remove a leather dye and lighten it. You could have a slip cover made, or just out it in the room, and change the fabric one (easier), or have a custom back throw made that essentially covers the back of the sofa in a fabric you pick.

It is perfectly possible to change the colour of your leather but you would need to use pigments rather than dyes to do this It us best left to a leather technician to do as DIY products available over the Internet rarely work and could cause the leather to look far worse and be very expensive to fix. Use denatured alcohol to remove, and a spray dye to finish.
