You can if a) you have a REALLY big windows with a great view, b) if you have other colourful decor.

Yes you can, a whiter will almost always look good with any color, unless of course that color is white. I am presuming you want a blend of neutral colors so mixing beiges, whites, and tans would work.
As the first reply said, you can have whatever you like. But it sounds like you're concerned there might be too little contrast in the room, and that would be a shame considering how much $$ and effort an ivory leather sofa takes, eh? Consider grounding: the sofa on a deep-colored area rug such as a medium navy, or chocolate brown, or a charcoal grey. You could also consider painting the wall opposite the room's entrance in a similar color, so the sofa pops in contrast to the floor opposite-wall. Both of these options --together or only one-- will make the sofa more prominent and you can dress the sofa with similarly colored accessories such as pillows and a throw. Hope this helps, ? ?
