Is there room under a mini cooper to fit wider wheels?

your wide wheels will extend outwards from the car, but when you turn they may rub, turn your wheels all the way to the left and right, and feel on the front and top of the tire on the inside and see how much free space you have
Talk to the Tire Rack, and review their website. They test fit wheels and have an enormous database of what will and will not work. You'll be able to see different style of wheels, even pictured on your car, as well as data on their diameter and width. They won't recommend anything that won't fit. I'm sure that you'd be able to squeeze something a little wider under there, using a wheel with the correct offset. Remember that wider doesn't automatically mean sticking out further. A wider wheel can also tuck in more (not a technical term, but hopefully you can picture what I mean).
